Priory Crescent road widening

Cuckoo Corner

Cuckoo Corner

In the last two years the residents around Manners Way have had to face the prospect of a Waste Transfer Station replacing allotment sites by Warners Bridge, a 130 bedroom hotel in Eastwoodbury Crescent and a fatal accident despite warnings by local councillors about the heavy and fast moving traffic. Now to cap it all comes the suggestion that a set of seven traffic lights at Cuckoo Corner will resolve all the problems.

Is that's why it¹s called Cuckoo corner. This latest idea from Cllr Mrs Anna Waite, responsible for traffic is to put seven sets of light at the Cuckoo corner roundabout is even criticicised by her own party.

We all know that something needs to be done to improve this busy area. The whole Lib Dem party have suggested reasonable and workable alternatives that would cause minimal disruption. When the Lib Dems take control of the council we will kill and bury any cuckoo ideas about traffic light and a short, very expensive and total useless section of dual carriageway and come up with sensible alternatives. That's a promise

Widening Scheme up date - October 2008

Recent news suggests that the "cuckoo" ideas put forward by the Tory administration are unlikely to gain government approval. The ironic thing is that if they had applied for money for the Bell, Kent Elms and Progress Road junctions they would probably by now been nearing being finished and our lives would be looking happier.
