Many of you will have heard Cllr Mark Flewitt talking about a possible gypsy site in the St Laurence area and you may have come to a conclusion that, just like his recent airport outburst, it is very misleading!

At the East of England Regional Assembly (EERA) meeting on January 25th 2008 a decision was taken to allow sites somewhere in the Southend Borough in line with other authorities in Essex. At that meeting nine out of ten Conservatives voted in favour of the proposition. If only Anna Waite, the former Tory leader of Southend Council could have tried to persuade the other nine Tories to oppose the motion, the proposal could have been killed off in December. Unfortunately she didn't.

Is this the right decision? We leave you to decide but as far as Liberal Democrat Councillors Carole Roast and Ted Lewin are concerned they give you their assurance that there are at this time no proposals for any gypsy sites in Eastwoodbury Lane.
