Waste Transfer Station update
Residents and allotment holders have defeated Tory plans for a Waste Transfer Station in Manners Way At a meeting of the council cabinet it was announced that an alternative site to the Manners Way allotments had been found for the new waste transfer station. We were dismayed to hear in Cabinet that the efforts of the allotment holders, Cllrs Carole Roast and Ted Lewin on behalf of the residents of Manners Way rubbished by the administration for our efforts. Yes the administration did identify the new site but this was only after the intense pressure they were put under from residents, ward councillors and allotment holders. Why have we the ward councillors not been told about this before? Conservative St Laurence Councillor Mark Flewitt as a member of the cabinet must have known some time ago. Why didn't he talk to the residents and allotment holders until the last moment? If this new site is so superior why has it taken over a year to decide to ditch the plans for the site in Manners Way and use this far better new location?
